Guelph Street Art Festival Saturday Sept 28th Features Hip Hop, Dancing, DJs, Graffiti & More!

Ever tried ‘bboying’ ? Even know what it is ? Three street dance performances by Gadfly Dance Co. at Guelph’s Market Square tonight Friday Sept 27th at 4pm, 7pm and 9pm followed by a Q & A on urban dance should fill in the gaps.

Tomorrow – Saturday, Join over 20 street artists on Cork Street, downtown Guelph as they create their work for you to see. With entertainment and performances from hip hop crews, breakdancing and Guelph Spoken Word.

Spray painted pictures are not the only art that will be on display at the Street Art Fest, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

“Last year we learned that graffiti doesn’t cover all kinds of street art. There’s hip hop, there’s dance, there are interactive exhibits and stenciling. There is some incredible talent in the city and we are so happy to provide a venue for these artists.”

More than 20 street artists will create works on site throughout the day. There will also be hip hop crews, DJs, and poetry from Guelph Spoken Word.

Guelph School of Art is giving some street stenciling demonstrations and artist Lizzie Gosse-Steinberg is inviting the public to contribute to her It’s Your City art project. The public can paint small pieces of canvass and Gosse-Steinberg will use them to create a cityscape of Guelph.

The event is free and runs from noon to 5 p.m. Cork Street will be closed to vehicles but St. George’s Square will remain open.
