Rice Krispies = $$$$ in the “Treats for Toys” Campaign Supporting The Salvation Army Toy Drive!

Treats for Toys

This Holiday Help Make a Difference

I am a huge supporter of the Salvation Army and the good work they do in communities across Canada, so when I heard about this new holiday promotion that Kellogg’s Rice Krispies is running I couldn’t wait to share it with everyone.

The Treats for Toys Campaign works is simple campaign that will make a huge difference to the lives of kids across Canada.

Watch the video here..

Here is how it works…

  • Make a treat with Rice Krispies cereal,  by yourself, with your kids or how about a big group?
  • Take a photo of your treat & upload it to the Kellogg’s website at until December 22nd, 2013.
  • Kelloggs will donate a $20 for each original photo of a treat towards the pruchase of a real toy for a less fortunate child.

One picture = $20.

It doesn’t get any easier to give.

Kellogg’s will donate up to a maximum of $30,000 to The Salvation Army for the use of purchasing toys for needy children across Canada.

So grab a box of Rice Krispies, grab some marshmallows and get creative with your kids to make some awesome, yummy treats. I would love to see the maximum amount donated and with your help, it can be done.

There is another way you can help.. share this post with your friends and family to help spread the word!

Dollar Store Halloween Shopping Saved Me 85% OFF Specialty Stores

While out Halloween shopping, I did some comparison shopping that I just had to share with you as we gear up for the spooky dress up holiday that can really break the bank if you aren’t careful.

My Mission:  Find a pink feather boa & a pink feathery mask for my daughter’s Halloween costume. Being quite frugal, I did price comparison first and I was pretty amazed by the differences in price and glad I did.  I found the almost identical items all all four stores with wildly different prices. The Sprit Halloween store was by far the most expensive followed by DOT and Value Village so keep that in mind when doing your shopping as I think it is safe to assume that price point will be the same for all items they carry.

*DOT Halloween – $6.99
*Value Village – $5.99
*Spriit Halloween $12.99
*Dollarama – $2

*DOT Halloween – $8.99
*Value Village – $6.99
*Spriit Halloween $12.99
*Dollarama – $2

THE RESULTS: Dollarama all the way!  I ended up paying 85% less than I would have at the other store! WOW! ??????????????????????

In the end, I spent $4.52 and got exactly what we needed and if we had bought at the first store we hit, the Spirit Halloween store, we would have paid $29.36. That is a remarkable savings of $24.84 on two items. Sure shopping around might take a wee bit longer but the savings can be huge.

And THAT, my friends, is why they call me the Bargain Hunting Momma.  Happy Halloween!
