Ontario’s Family Fishing Week & Weekend
July 5-13, 2014
Introduce your child to fishing! I can’t think of a more peaceful, fun, free outdoor activity than fishing with your kids. Nothing like it.. and the look on their face when they catch their first fish.. priceless!
Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. The Ontario Government designates two periods throughout the year as license-free, February 15-17, 2014 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday) and July 5-13, 2014 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday). During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.
There has never been a better time to introduce a friend to fishing!
Participants fishing without a license must fish under the Conservation fishing license limits which are set out in the current Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. With the exception of the licensing requirement, Ontario fishing regulations, fees and limits continue to apply during license-free days. Copies of the regulations are posted on the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources website, and are available in print at ServiceOntario centres and other fishing license issuers, as well as a variety of other outlets.
To find an event near you, visit the Events List. Each event provides a great opportunity to get outside, spend some wholesome time with the family, and develop a strong connection with conservation through the enjoyment of fishing.
As anglers, we shape the future of fishing in Ontario! Always fish with care and concern for our precious natural resources.
