Royal Medieval Fair

Sat September 15

Hear Ye… Hear Ye… ‘Tis the 15th on the 15th! Welcome lords and ladies to the Royal Medieval Faire! Huzzah!

The Royal Medieval Faire is one of the premier medieval festivals in Ontario.

Join us for our 15th year and a great celebration with food, music, magic and swordplay on September 15, 2012, from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm in Waterloo Park West, Waterloo!!

As you pass through the Westfield Heritage Village “Gates of Time”, you will be delighted to discover a world that existed before the internet and video/computer games…

Here life is  simple, and stories and history are coming alive! Feature performances are scheduled to take place at nine different stage areas throughout the village.

A variety of top names will be entertaining you from the Victorian Bandstand in the centre of the village.  From the platform of the Jerseyville Train Station, strong boy appeal writers will deliver lots of laughs.

*A diverse selection of authors who will appeal to middle readers and teens will be presenting from the Summer Stage and Lockhart Meadow.

*Storytellers will hold crowds of all ages spellbound in the Native Village.

* In the yard of the One Room Schoolhouse, young aspiring artists and writers will be invited to learn about the creative process from leading children’s illustrators.  Inspiring talks on how to get your own book published as well as trends in children’s books today will take place at the Mountsberg Church.

*Activity Centre – temporary tattoos, crafts, and more, takes place in the Large Meadow, where you will also find great music, drumming circles, puppet shows, exhibitors as well as info about our many community partners.

Along with the scheduled performances, visitors are encouraged to wander and explore Westfield’s amazing historic buildings, such as the Blacksmith Shop and the General Store. Engage in conversation with a wide variety of village characters about life in the 1800s and early 1900s. Find out what books they were excited about in their time – many of these stories are still popular today.

You might get a chance to chat with Alice in Wonderland  or catch a glimpse of Anne of Green Gables!

Adjacent to the autographing area, Bryan Prince Bookseller, will be selling featured books presented. Festival presenters will be on hand at regularly scheduled times at our Autographing Tent to sign books and meet their fans.

Plan to visit the Telling Tales Giant Book Swap and Shop Tent, a place to bring your slightly worn children’s books, donate them to literacy and, if you choose, purchase second hand titles for just loonies and toonies.
