For the first time, the KWS is taking their Kinderconcert concert series on the road with visits to the town of Elmira, the Waterloo Museum in downtown Kitchener and the Conrad Centre for Performing Arts.

Doors open one hour before each concert and children and parents can participate in music activities provided by Music for Young Children. Stay after the concert to meet the performers and their instruments!

City of Kitchener Civic Square – Ice Rink & Rotunda

Saturday, February 22nd

10am. to 3 p.m.

Civic Square will  turn into a hub of hockey activities as the NHL stars of tomorrow from Kitchener Minor Hockey (tyke players) compete for the Mayor’s Cup..

The event will also feature exclusive hockey exhibits from the Hockey Hall of Fame, interactive games for all ages and educational opportunities.

Special guest confirmed for this years event will be artist Michael Slotwinkski who will display his goalie mask art work “The Men Behind The Mask” inside the rotunda.

Children will also have the opportunity to create their own goalie mask designs.

Sportsworld Crossing, Kitchener (former Pioneer Sportworld area by Costco)

Check out this very cool event happening this Friday night.. The Grand River Film Festival and Sportsworld Crossing are presenting a free outdoor movie night with live music starting at 8:00 pm and a movie under the stars at dusk.

The event takes place in the Greenspace in front of Moose Winooski’s at Sportsworld Crossing.

The Band-  Alysha Brilla, a Tanzanian-Canadian singer/songwriter featuring upbeat, jazz and reggae influenced music. She brings a positive energy to festivals and stages both in Canada and internationally including appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival and Mariposa Folk Festival. Brilla fronts the band on guitar and is backed by her stellar line-up of drums, bass, keys and horns, bringing a bit of a world-vibe to a very accessible performance.

The Movie – A feature film (which remains a secret for now) will be screened at dusk as a part of the Grand River Film Festival.  I will update this as soon as I find out.

Bring your lawn chair with you!

    Small but really nice, this is an excellent splash pad for the 6 and under crowd for sure. Older kids are welcome but it’s geared to younger. Lots of shade & grassy areas surrounding the pad for picnics & a play ground within eyesight. I love this spot! Washrooms close by.

Inspired by the Province of Ontario’s ACTIVE 2010 campaignActive Kitchener is designed to get Kitchener residents involved, and to stay involved, in sport and physical activity. Not just this year, but as a lifestyle choice.

Affiliated Sport Groups and Local Partners will be offering free demonstrations, skills and drills, and an introduction to their sport.

  • Learn how to navigate the BMX track or the Skateboard Park safely
  • Learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee or Rugby
  • Test your skills on the basketball or volleyball courts.
  • Local players and instructors will be on site to provide tips and tricks to get you Active.

 

*bring your own bike, skateboard and safety equipment as that will not be provided*

If you like to think of new things to invent, or new ways to do things then you might want to check out this interesting event taking place Saturday June 15th at Kitchener City Hall. Meet interesting people from our community who want to show off their projects in what is being described as a ‘one-day celebration of DIY culture.’

This is a free event, and will appeal to Makers of all age groups and interests.

Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
