Kitchener Minor Baseball is running 4 free Rookie Ball clinics for non-rep players
The clinics will be held at Bridgeport Public School from 6:30 to 8:30 on January 12th, January 19th, January 26th and February 2nd. Due to limited space each session is limited to 20 participants. To ensure we have space available please book you place here to indicate which dates you plan to attend.

Two years ago, upon the suggestion of a close friend, our family headed out to Bloomingdale to this free concert expecting a nice family evening. What we didn’t expect was to be blown away by the level of talent and professionalism of the musicians, the choirs, singers and the production as a whole. It was like something you would pay to see at the Centre in the Square – I kid you not – it is that good. The show far exceeded all of our expectations and we are now making it an annual tradition.
I can’t say enough good things about this show and most importantly, it filled my heart with joy and we all left the show feeling inspired and reminded of the real reason for the season and totally in the Christmas mood. It was fun, inspiring, and extremely entertaining. While it was held in a church and some of the songs were spiritual, this was not a religious show and I strongly encourage ANYONE to go no matter what your faith or beliefs. You will never feel uncomfortable and the congregation was so welcoming and kind — a really lovely experience. Our children, who were only 3, 5 and 10 at the time were captivated and sat quietly through the entire show. Since going, we have now taken other families along and every one of them falls in love with this concert and makes it a new tradition. This year, there will be 6 families and all our kids taking in the show for about 30 people!

Choose from 5 FREE performances for the whole family on Saturday or Sunday in Bloomingdale or new this year, they have added a Woodstock show on Dec 13th. Bloomingdale is a small village just outside Kitchener Waterloo – a 10 – 20 minute depending on where you are coming from. From the Stanley Park area, we are there in about 10 minutes.

Tickets are free and available 1 hour before each show. (not in advance)
You will receive seat assigment at the entrance.
People will be lined up if you want to be near the front but the theatre is huge so no worries about getting a seat.

Best Saturday Outing – We are blessed to have not one, but two wonderful farmer’s markets in Kitchener Waterloo. Depending on your mood, you can try more quaint Kitchener Market or if you up for some serious shopping and crowds, venture out to the much larger St Jacobs one and a full-fledged Mennonite , flea market, artisians and outlet mall shopping experience. Both offer fabulous fresh produce, meat breads and cheese and tasty treats to satisfy every taste. Fresh apple fritters – yum!
Favorite Family Restaurant – The entire family agrees that a trip to Moose Winooskis is a good time for all. Great atmosphere and yummy food, including some of the best wings in town make for a nice night out. The family birthday tradition is to wear the Moose Antlers and spin the wheel and pray you don’t land on ‘Pie in the face!’
Best Family Thing to do on a Sunday – Our busy family enjoys unplugging and taking a hike along the peaceful and scenic Grand River on any one of the many hiking trails in the Walter Bean Trail System. We especially like the one down by the bridge close to Breslau off Victoria Street. Watch canoes and kayaks going by, see what the fishermen are catching that day and if you are lucky, spot hawks and maybe even an owl one one of our trips.
Favourite Friday Night Event – From September to March, Friday night is game night for the Kitchener Rangers at The Auditorium. Hockey fans from Rangers Nation converge upon the building to take part in what has become a rousing Friday night tradition. The arena is sold out almost every game as dedicated fans create a virtual sea of red white and blue with jerseys and apparel, showing their undying adoration to their home team. Win or lose, KW loves their hockey and loves their Rangers and fans enjoy showing their support in this Friday night tradition where fans of all ages socialize and enjoy a good night out.
Favorite Local Event – The Kitchener Blues Festival is a must attend festival for my husband every August. Every year we discover more great musical acts and get to hear some of the best Blues musicians around. Nothing like soaking up some hot summer rays, listening to some blues and sipping a nice cold one on the outdoor patio at City Hall. Oh and did I mention is FREE. Wow..
Favourite FREE Fun for Kids – The Kitchener Public Library offers incredible free fun for kids of all ages and we are regulars at many of their programs year round. Programs are creative and current and keep kids interested and busy, while teaching them good life skills along the way. Whether is a summer, PA Day diversion or special event like Mine Craft Mania, the staff are friendly and energetic and always make the kids glad they came.
I am a huge supporter of the Salvation Army and the good work they do in communities across Canada, so when I had the opportunity to help the Kitchener Waterloo branch out with their annual kettle campaign I was delighted to get involved. Nationally they do incredibly good work helping those in need and locally, they helped 17,1113 adults and 10,982 children alone in their 2012 food assistance program. (read about their entire list of programs below). Every community across Canada has a branch so find the one in your hometown to find out what they are doing and where the kettles are located.
I am consistently amazed by people’s generosity as they drop donations in my kettle and this experience has truly filled my heart and restored my faith in humanity.My experience on the kettle has been incredibly heart warming. I have heard some touching stories from people from all walks of life who have been helped by acts of kindness from the Salvation Army at some point in their lives. Some stories are recent, some are from 20 years ago when they were going through a rough patch, and some stories stretch back as far as World War II. But the common thread in all of these stories is the permanent impact the Sally Ann had on each individual which now compels them to tell others how much they love this organization and their need to give back.

Canadian rock band, The Tragically Hip, will headline the 2014 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off™, the National Hockey League’s free hockey and music festival to celebrate the start of the 2014-15 season, at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto – TODAY – Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The Tragically Hip (@thehipdotcom) will perform a 45-minute performance set as part of the free concert, presented by SiriusXM Canada, at Yonge-Dundas Square prior to the 7:00 p.m. Toronto Maple Leafs®-Montreal Canadiens® game.
Portions of the concert will also be featured in Sportsnet’s national broadcast of the game.
The show is part of the NHL Face-Off event, which starts at noon in Yonge-Dundas Square with NHL alumni, special guests including Wendel Clarke & Darryl Sittler, and giveaways, rain or shine.
